Our story began in high school. Not quite a Hollywood story, but nonetheless, I got to marry my high school sweetheart. Chance and I met when we were freshmen in high school. It wasn’t until two years later that we realized our friendship was a little more than we expected. We realize it’s a bit unusual to marry your “first love,” but, for us, it just worked. He has been my best friend since, and I do not know that anyone can make me laugh like he can. Our relationship has always been a little bit spontaneous, and we never felt the need or want to have a traditional wedding, which is why we decided to elope. We have two amazing children, our dogs, Gracie and Coot. When we decided we were going to elope, we knew they were going to be a part of it. We just had to decide where it would take place. We love the mountains, and Asheville has always been a special place for us. After reaching out to Meghan Rolfe from Asheville Adventure Weddings, we decided on Max Patch Mountain, a bald mountaintop, not too far from Asheville. We love to hike with our dogs, and we wanted our wedding to be an adventure. So, a wedding on a mountaintop was perfect for us.Our favorite part of our adventure wedding was the views from Max Patch. They were absolutely breathtaking! We also loved the spontaneity of finding a second witness—a preacher from South Carolina hiking with his own family. The preacher, along with his wife and six children, added an extra dynamic that made our day even more special. We decided to wait and tell our family the next morning. They all knew we were planning to elope, but they did not know when it would happen. Both of our families were beyond happy and excited for us. Our next step is to enjoy being married! We definitely want to add to our family in the future, but we are happy to just enjoy life with our two dogs for now. Kristin & C’
