I love getting to work with happy families! That may sound obvious, but I know that getting large, multi-generational families together for a photo shoot can be somewhat daunting. Kids become impatient, parents get tired of wrangling them, and others just give up altogether. I get it. I work with a lot of families, and I’ve learned how to large photo shoots a little more bearable by giving everyone involved some time and space, capturing the sweet candid moments in between. When the family doesn’t feel rushed, the photos come naturally.
A Reunion to Remember
All that being said, this family was one of the most fun, upbeat families I’ve worked with in a long time. Going with the flow just comes naturally to them (or maybe the eggnog was just extra good this year). Over the Christmas break, the McConville family gathered together at their parents’ gorgeous home in Sylva. As with any family, it’s a big deal to get the entire group together. But for this family in particular, it was incredibly important since they have five kids spread across the country. Major props to them for pulling this off! What a special occasion – certainly one worth documenting.
I love seeing the kids interact with their parents. You can always tell when a family gets back together after having not seen each other for a while. It’s like they revert back to their natural state as a unit. Laughter erupts at every turn, playful sibling rivalries reignite, and the family picks up right where they left off. I was thrilled to get to work with their kids and grandkids. What adorable children they all have!

She was professional, creative, and got the most amazing shots. She sent us our photos super fast (a little over a week!) and they were all amazing.
