There’s just something so magical about a hillside maternity session. In the summer, wildflowers and tall grasses cover the Blue Ridge Mountain foothills. It’s the most relaxing spot in the world and perfect for expecting parents to savor their last few weeks of pregnancy, rest in the moment, and celebrate this next step they’re taking together as their family grows.

Erica and Matt contacted me earlier this year about doing a maternity session. She is from Austin and he is from Memphis, but they’ve fallen in love with Asheville during their few years here together. They own and operate a successful local catering company called Red FiddleVittles where they serve unique gourmet food and private chef services. They’re expecting a baby boy very soon, so they wanted to make sure to document this monumental time in their lives. They are an amazing team in running their business, and I have no doubt they’ll be an amazing team in parenting! I’m so excited for this next adventure in their story together.

Since Asheville is such a hotspot for romantic weddings and elopements, you’ll find many posts about those on my site. But I also love capturing maternity sessions so much! When it comes down to it, I love capturing life for people – each chapter in their stories deserves to be preserved and cherished, and photography is how I can offer that to them. I’m so glad that Erica and Matt made this shoot a priority. Some women don’t make the investment – or they feel too uncomfortable to try it – but it is a life event worth documenting. It is amazing what a woman’s body can do! And after seeing this whimsical, carefree summer session on the grounds of the Biltmore Estate, I bet you would say the same.

Congratulations, Erica and Matt!

If you are thinking about doing a maternity shoot contact me, you wont regret it!
