Biltmore Proposal | Kristen & Braxton
Kristen and Braxton actually live here in Asheville! I was so excited to be able to capture the proposal of a couple who lives nearby. Most couples I photograph come from all over, drawn to the incomparable scenery, majestic mountains, and picturesque Biltmore Estate that serve as a backdrop in the charming city of Asheville.
about the proposal
But these two locals decided to dress up and go tour the Biltmore one pretty Sunday morning. Braxton had another plan all along. As I’ve said before, I love doing proposals. I like seeing a story unfold from a spectator’s point of view to capture the raw beauty of the moment. So, when Braxton reached out to me about photographing the proposal, I couldn’t wait! He told me the plan, and I got on board.
After their tour, they took a stroll in the gardens. It was a gorgeous, sunny day and not too crowded (but just enough people that I could blend in). I had my eye on them to see where they were walking. Meanwhile, I was pretending to take some flower photos. Suddenly, they stopped and started talking for a bit. It was getting serious, and I knew this was my cue!
this was a day to remember!
I got into position, snapped a few shots of them talking, and then Braxton got down on one knee and proposed! Kristen was so excited that she had to hug him before he even stood up! They both looked so happy and in love, and of course, she answered with a heartfelt yes!
Their sweet moment was so fun to watch and to capture! After their intimate time together, I introduced myself, and we walked around the gardens and inside the conservatory for a few extra photos of this gorgeous newly engaged couple!
I find that most people are relieved to hear that their other half remembered to book a professional photographer for the proposal. That’s a moment you never want to forget, and you want it to be documented well (a passerby’s iPhone camera skills might not cut it).
