Sallie and James were married on September 24th, with a ceremony at First Baptist Church and a reception at Crest Pavilion. I was so excited to see them get married because I had done their engagement pictures at the Biltmore, so this was a chance to see the culmination of all that love!
I started of the day capturing pictures of Sallie getting ready at the church, while my second shooter, Erin Adams, was with James in his hotel room. Before the ceremony, they wanted to give each other gifts, and James gave Sallie jewelry, while Sallie gave him boots.
Family was central to this touching ceremony, especially their fathers. James had asked his dad to be his best man, and Sallie asked her dad to walk her down the aisle. Halfway down the aisle, they picked up her stepdad on the other side of her, and both of them escorted her the rest of the way! There was a real theme of unity, including during the prayer at the ceremony. All the guests put their hands on each other, and it was a sweet, intimate moment.
After the ceremony, I grabbed some family photos, and then Erin covered the cocktail hour before we hit the reception. Sallie and James had opted for a speakeasy theme for their reception, and I loved it. Sallie even changed her dress to go with the reception, and the whole party was simply perfect for their personalities—as well as for the Crest Pavilion location!
My favorite moment at the reception was probably the garter toss. The whole process of James taking off the garter and tossing it to his friends had everyone laughing. I also loved the pictures of the two of them outside the church, especially the one in the pretty little nook just outside the church doors.
James & Sallie, thank you again for letting me be part of your celebrations! Your wedding was beautiful, your friends and family are fun, and it was a joy to be a part of!
