We just love capturing proposals for couples! It is so much fun and is so exciting. There is just something about capturing the moment of surprise and elation on a bride-to-be’s face. The couple’s faces radiate happiness and excitement as they take that very first step into beginning to build a life together.
When Justin contacted me to photograph his surprise proposal to Brooke, he was too excited that he would be able to add even more memories to their trip to the Asheville area. To provide the utmost beautiful pictures, we chose to go with the Black Balsam Knob high off the Blue Ridge Parkway. When Justin and Brooke started their hike, I kept my eye on them from a distance. Don’t worry though; I had my finger ready on the shutter button the whole time! When the moment was just right, Justin got down on one knee to propose. Brooke was completely surprised. Of course, she said ‘YES!’
We had a gorgeous mountain evening for some engagement photos. The mountains made it a perfect backdrop to capture breathtaking photographs in both color and black and white. The yellow wildflowers added such a lovely, delicate detail to the pictures as well. Both Justin and Brooke were so easy to work with. They were up for any and all poses; they just couldn’t get enough! We photographed into the evening, and I can’t say enough about the sunset photographs. The beautiful pink sliver fading behind the mountain was such a beautiful depiction of the ending of such a perfect day for Justin and Brooke.
While the background was indeed stunning, nothing was more enchanting than the smiles on Justin and Brooke’s faces. There is just something about photographing in the moment when it’s not totally expected to capture all the raw emotions of such a life-changing event. Congrats, Justin and Brooke! May your adventure begin!
