Motherhood is one journey I never get tired of documenting. Watching a woman grow and nurture her body and baby throughout pregnancy, observing a loving couple connecting on a whole new level, and of course all the excitement that comes with welcoming a new life into this world. It’s a long trek to the top of the mountain, but nothing can compare to the end result of that sweet new ray of sunshine. I was able to experience and document the love as Mackenzie and Harold’s Asheville Maternity and Newborn Photographer.
Mackenzie and Harold are sweet friends of mine who booked a motherhood session to celebrate their growing bundle! A bald mountaintop near Hot Springs, NC was the perfect backdrop to capture Mom, Dad, and of course their family dog Luna. I love incorporating people’s beloved animals into their session.. They really are such an important part of the family! Mackenzie is such a natural beauty and her smile radiated in the light of the stunning sunset that greeted us for her maternity session. She is also a yoga teacher, and we had a lot of fun incorporating her passion for yoga into the photos as well. It was truly a joy to witness Mackenzie and Harold’s love through my lens and I was so honored to document her journey from maternity to motherhood when we met again for their newborn session.
There is something inherently special about new life. It’s a fresh start, a new chapter, a beginning to a journey like no other. I love watching families embark on such a special new time in their lives, and I feel so honored when I am able to document the journey through motherhood and beyond, as I was able to do for Mackenzie and Harold. I spent some time with the beaming new parents and their precious girl Veda Grace at their home in West Asheville.
Veda was the perfect little subject for her newborn session. We got great individual shots of her, as well as photos with each parent, and family shots of all of them together. Mackenzie had a beautiful scarf belonging to her grandmother that we were able to incorporate into the pictures as well. Veda looked so darling wrapped comfortably in her great grandmother’s scarf. The atmosphere was so calm and relaxing, the love in this home was almost tangible. I could tell Mackenzie and Harold were naturals, and I was so honored to document this fleeting time in their lives with photos I hope they will cherish forever.
